CUESTIÓNS:

LENA OLIN:
"What´s most interesting and most real to me in my work is to never make role a complete character, because person is just like this or like that.Because you can never do that with real people in real life,so if you try that on stage you lose the truth.Since I myself strive to be able to be a great many, things,I also want my character to have that very same liberty.Eventually in that way it will add to a sort of completeness. But it is the story that is told that is the interesting thing and the situations the character is in.And as we humans always are shaped by a special situation or given circumstances,I can never ever say:Thus is my character.(on her acting work,Swewdish interview,1990).
                                                                          LENA OLIN..

</strong>LENA OLIN:
                                   "Actress suggested playing two roles"

<strong>Chicago Tribute:

Long before She made her way to Hollywood,Swewdish actress Lena Olin honed her Skills under the directon of Ingmar Bergman at Stockholm´s Royal Dramatic Theatre.

After mastering Shakespearen Classies onstage and earning starter roles in European Films,Oln´s breakthrough performance in The Unbearable Lightness of Being(1988) created an international buzz loud enough to lure her from Europe to the United States.

<img src="http://blogs.hoycinema.com/myfiles/lena-olin/thereader3.jpg" width="320" height="240" class="imgdcha" />

She stars with Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes in The Reader as Holocaust survivor Ilana Mather,as well as her mother,Rose Mother,in the film´s 1960s flashbacks.
Originally cast solely for the role of Ilana,Olin suggested to director Stephen Daldry that She play buth daughter and mother.

Q:Before reading David Hare´s screenplay,were you familiar with Bernhard Schlink´s book,Der Vorleser,on which it´s based?

A:Yes, I had read the book years ago. It´s a popular book in Germany.
-Almost every other person had read it,and it´s been a best-seller in Europe. It´s a story about a Nazi, basically, who has a Love affair with an underage German boy. It´s extremely complicated.
-As I read the book,I thought it almost would not be possible to work as a film. But when I watch the movie,it becomes more power ful to see these characters as people of flesh and blood, and I have a better understanding of what they are geing through.

<img src="http://blogs.hoycinema.com/myfiles/lena-olin/prem_reader04.jpg" width="3000" height="2189" class="imgcen" />

Q:How did you up playing both he modern-day Ilana Mather and her mother?

A:I was so moved by character of the mother and her testimony and the trial,I got this idea that it could be so interesting to play the mother and the child.
-We inherit the joy and pain of our lives, and it flows through generations,so it just seemed like a nice idea.

Q:In the trailers,Ilana Mather is portrayed ahuost as Fienne´spsychologist:a wealthy, powerful woman interviewing him from her couch.

A:I´ve heard that before;it seems that wsy.But when Stephen(Daldry) approached me with this role,he wanted to portray another kind of survivor-someone who´s moved on.
-She´s a victim of the Holocaust herself, and I think that was very important to Stephen and my self to portray someone who had moved on.
obviously, her insides have been torn apart, and She grew up in hell and carries the pain.
But She´s made a life for herself:She Lives in beautiful apartament and has a very successful Life.
At the end(of the film) when you meet this woman,David wanted a shot of a regular survivor,he wanted the awdience to see someone........Who has done well with her life.

Q:When you starred in Alias you were so good at being bad.Even for the role of Ilana Mather, your character is embittered and unflinching.

A:Everyona is complicated but i`´s interesting to dig into a complicated charated,to try to find that within yourself.I couldn´t say that I prefer one over the other, but I love to play complicated characters.

"Veamos algunos Humildes ejemplos":

-SELECCION MAESTRAS:

                                     20 QUESTIONS:

-Sweden`s best-built export since the SAAB Shes light on the meatball, bad choices in love and the endless night-Lena Olin is complicated an erotic. As Masha,a concentration-camp survivor in "Enemies,A Love Story",She portrays neurotic love.Earlier,as Sabina in "The Unbearable Lightness of Being",She spent several memorable moments wearing mainly a hat.
In "Havana",with Robert Redford,She melts thoough her co-stra`s famous cool persona.Contributing Editor David Resin met with Olin, who lives in Sweden, during one of her rare visits to los Angeles. She greeted him at her hotel-room door."Although her English was excellent",he says,"She easily resorted to sign language or French to find the proper word. She was as free with her opinions as She was with her cigarretes."

                                              1
PlayBloy:Many of your films seen to take place during times of political upheaval. Is that coincidental?

Olin:I`m not going for thr political thing by itself.I`m interested in films about human changes. My most recent films take place in very politically strained times. It`s not like in Sweden, where thongs have been the same for years. In these happen that wouldn`t have happened had the political situation been different.

                                               2
You`ve worked with directors such as Ingmar Bergman,Sydney Pollack,Philip Kaufman and Paul Mazursky.
PlayBoy:What makes a good director good?
Olin:An intelligent director waits to see what`s going to happen.Sometimes directors tink that they Know what type of character you are.One director in Sweden always cast mein one type of character, which irritales me.This especially happens in Sweden, where we tend to work with the same directors, because the country is so small and there are so few directors. In this country,it seems like actors work with a director once, then never again.Sometimes you see wonderful relationships, like Scorsese and De Niro`s ,but they are rare.

                                                3
PlayBoy:What do you like most about the American film business?

Olin:People are so capable. And compared with Swedish contitions, where we make so few films, your capacity is amazing. Also, there is not so much humbug about acting. In America,it`s like,"Action".In Sweden,it`s more like,"Do you think we can do this now?.We sometimes make it heavier than it has to be.It frustrates me.Sweden is rigid.Nobody can yawn or make small talk fifteen minutes before a difficult take or a rehearsal.People here are serious, yet they have a looseness.

                                                4
PlayBoy:Does the perfect role exist?

Olin:It might.I don`t know.but I know actors whofight to a character. They say that this is the character they want, and it doesn`t matter who the dierctor is.To me,it`s always a combination of who is directing, who is acting, what the script is like.In America, they say,"Who is starring?",before they even mention the director.I`ve been lucky with all my directors. And there are those, like Bergman or Pollack or Scorsese, who could call me and say,"Here`s a bunch of toilet paper that`s going to be shot in six months.Would you do it?".Definitely.I wouldn`t care about the script, because I`d know it was safe.

                                                5
PlayBoy:Do you trust people easily?

Olin:In my work,it`s easy;but I don`t trust people easily in my private life.I look for security all the time, though I try to force my self not to,because I think it`s falce:
There is no security.Yet there seen to be some people who have within themselves some kind of security that I envy.I have a room of my own,in my self, that I can walk into, and that`s one kind of security for me.But I`m a very insecure person in manys.I`m a worner;therefore, everything is a challenge to me.I could end up sitting in a room just locking all the doors.

                   Miss´Lena Olin:actress

In a 2005 MEA interview during the production of "Casanova" Lena spoke of what it was like to work with Lasse:
"He is very honest with booth me and the others, and I can ask him anything. And he is always calm. This morning things were abit chaotic before we started filming, because the water had risen to such a high level that the extras couldn´t get here.
But Lasse was calm.He knows exactly what he wants to achieve and how to archive it.Which has the side effect that when we get home at night,we don´t talk shop.A short reflection about one of tne scenes maybe, that´s it".

The quintessential role of her career(since The Unbearable Lightness of Being and Enemies:A Love Story)would surprisingly come on the small screen.
In 2002,Lena signed on as a regular cast member of J.J Abrams hit television series,Alias.Having seen her as Mona Demarkov in "Romeo Is Bleeding" years before,Abrams Knew that She´s be perfect in the role of series´star,Sydney Bristow´s(played by Jennifer Garner)mother,Irina Derevko,Alias Laura Bristow´s,esposse the Jack Bristow´s(played by Victor Garber).
Derevko was a formner KGB spy sent to the United States in the 1970´s to seduce and marry an CIA agent, steal his secrets and help mother Russia win the cold war.
After faking her deat in a car crash,Derevko returned home and evntually began her own empir as "The Man",a mafia leader and terrorist, who resurfaces in her family´s life unexpectedly ,leaving everyone guessing as to what her true intentions are.

DIALOGUE THE IRINA AND JACK:
Irina:I had this picture of your face in my mind fortwenty years.
        I remember a loving husband,generous man,patriot.
I may have ben under orders to fabricate a life with you,but there
        were times.
When the illusion of our marriage was a powerfull to me and it was for you!!!!

Irina:you´re not my illusion
Jack:No,but I might be your executioner.
Irina:parting threat from mon-does Syd know what you did?

"Daughter,Sister,Friend,Lover,Actress,Mother,Wife....Artist,Revolutionary,Gangster,Satanist,Judge,Psychic,Terrorist."

-Lena Olin has played many roles in her life. And we love them all!!"

When She was 19,Lena finally admited to hersecret desire to become an actress.Afterauditioning three times and being encouraged by Ingmar Bergman, alifelong friend of the Olin family, not to give up,She was finally admitted to The State´s School For Scenic Education, located a Stone´s throw from the birthplace of Greta Garbo.

Ingmar Bergman would later have a strong influence on her career both in theater and film.During the years in drama school She also had her first significant role in a movie-Picassos Aventry(The Aventures of Picasso)

Under Bergman´s tutelage,Lena honed her Skills, sharpening her natural, but raw, talent into technical perfection and at last, finding a voice for the expression of all those emotions and feelings that the woman herself found it difficult to express.Acting was her way of communicating something to the world.

Olin´s stage debut came in 1980.with a role in Ben Jonson´s Alkenisten(The Alchemist)and was followed by role after role.It was in 1984´s King Lear by William Shakespeare that Lena caught the attention of Bertil Ohlsson, the executive producer of "The Unbearable Lightness of Being".He caught Lena´s portrayal of the good Cordelia in a London performance and returned to America to tell producer,Saul Zaentz, who later found himself seated next to her at a dinner party in Sweden....a dinner party that Lena almost didn´t attend.

They shunned the glitz and glamour of Hollywood though, choosing instead to settle on the east coast in a suburb about an hour north of New York City. From this distance, they could focus on what was most important to both of them......Their family and each other....guarding their private lives and providing asense of normalcy for their children.

Yes....Lena has played many roles, both personally and professionally. We all have our favorites, but the question remains.....what is Lena´s favorite?
Only the lady herself could really give you that answer, but we think it´s pretty pbvious!!!!!

Lena´s glowing when She talks about the canals, the food, the people. The Romance.
-She gets a melancholic expression on her face. Her mother passed away last summer. And it´s the only time the sparkle in the eyes disappears.
-"She was muy very best friends,my guidance,my support. We were so very close.
I miss so her enormously even after a year, but I earry the force with me.
I used to talk to her everyday,I still do.
That doesn´t change because She´s not here anymore.
She was such an incredible inspiration to me.....
